A Day at Chester Zoo
As a huge animal lover as well as an animal artist, I love going to places with lots of animals to both admire and use as inspiration for my art. I visited Chester Zoo a few weeks ago and had an amazing time looking at all of the beautiful animals, big and small, and capturing images of them to use in the future in my art.
I love getting to see animals up close and in person, especially those that aren’t seen in day-to-day life, and a visit to an ethical zoo like Chester Zoo is the perfect place to do this! Chester Zoo is an ethical zoo, whose main aim is to educate future generations in animal conservation and care. As well as to provide the highest levels of animal welfare. On top of this, they even run global charities supporting animals in places such as Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
During my visit, I was lucky enough to see a huge array of incredible animals, over 75 species! Some of the stunning animals I was lucky enough to see included the Asian Elephant, Black Rhino, Giraffe, Two-Toed Sloth, Humbolt Penguin, Red Panda, Southern Cassowary, Lion and the Parson’s Chameleon. I was also lucky enough to visit the gardens and see many beautiful insects and plants.
If I ever find myself stuck for inspiration, I love visiting places such as zoos, nature reserves and hobby farms. It’s a great way to capture images of new animals and wildlife and helps me find inspiration to create art. Some of my most recent art came from my visit to Chester Zoo. Here I captured some images of the stunning Southern Cassowary Bird, and just had to draw him!
What’s your favourite wild animal? I’d love to hear what your favourite animal at the zoo is!
